The Lyme Old Lyme Chamber of Commerce begins its new year with a dinner meeting at Cherrystones on the Shore Road in Old Lyme on Thursday, September 15: cocktails at 6:15 & dinner at 7pm.

The Chamber’s guest speaker is Old Lyme author Richard Conniff, who writes about behavior on two, four, six, and eight legs. He has collected tarantulas in the Peruvian Amazon, tracked leopards with !Kung San hunters in the Namibian desert, climbed the Mountains of the Moon in western Uganda, and trekked through the Himalayas of Bhutan in pursuit of tigers and the mythical migur. Conniff will talk about his most recent book, The Species Seekers: Heroes, Fools, and the Mad Pursuit of Life on Earth.

The Lyme Old Lyme Chamber has a full schedule planned for the fall:

Literary Life in the Lymes on Friday, November 18, 7 to 9pm at the Old Lyme Town Hall. Local authors Steve Burt and James Benn and poet Marilyn Nelson share seasonal readings.
